A Peter Hess® sound massage is a modern method rooted in ancient knowledge of the positive effects of sound, such as in the east Indian healing arts of 5000+ years ago. According to their legend, humans were created from sound and are sound. It follows that if a being is "in tune" with both self and environment, he or she is able to live life more freely, happily and creatively.
Peter Hess is a German engineering graduate (FH) in Physical Technology who has extensively researched the effects of sound on people. Based on his manifold experience, particularly in Nepal and Tibet, he started work with metal singing bowls in 1984. His sound-massage method is based on compiled investigations and experiments showing the effect of traditional music on the human mind and body. In his many years of practice, Peter has adapted this knowledge for western cultures – the result is the original Peter Hess® method of Sound-Massage.
Peter heads the Institute for Sound Massage Therapy in northern Germany, which continues to develop and expand on his methods. He has shared his own experiences in seminars provided both in Germany and abroad since 1986.
The benefits of the Peter Hess® sound massage are tied to the placement of the Singing Bowls. Peter Hess ® therapeutic Singing Bowls are positioned on and around the dressed body and gently tapped with mallets specifically designed for this application. In this process, the resulting sounds induce audible and perceptible impulses. Due to the low frequencies of the harmonic sounds, the subject is rapidly transformed into a soothing state of deep relaxation. In many patients, this develops into a sense of self-confidence, security and self-reliance. Furthermore, the finer, higher vibrations also stimulate body fluids and are set in motion, effectively penetrating down to a cellular level. These gentle vibrations can then gently loosen tense muscles, stimulate circulation and have a soothing effect upon deep facial tissue allowing regenerative processes to occur at all levels- physically, mentally and emotionally.

Based on a playful and mindful approach, the supervised handling of the instrument Singing Bowl, can reawaken the joy of the children’s own sensory perception and intensify the ability to be present, to focus and to maintain attention.
Why sound therapy for children?
Relaxed children can inspire us with their strength, creativity and joy for learning.
We want to empower children to do something good for themselves. We want to guide them to become mindful, healthy, happy individuals and strengthen their self-awareness to build a solid foundation of self-love for life so they can develop their own independent thoughts and recognize the importance of their uniqueness. We want to give children guidelines through which they learn that they are fine the way they are, that they are valued, loved and their life has meaning.
In the sessions the bowls can become valuable companions and tools with which the diverse requirements of our modern lives can be met self-determined, joyfully, free, creative and with confidence according to the needs of the individual child.
The response of children to sounds & vibration has proven to be very beneficial for the sensibilisation of the senses, to support the positive development of self-awareness, to optimise neurological processing and to enhance cognitive and social-emotional skills. The participation in regular sound sessions can strengthen emotional intelligence, inspire creativity, improve concentration and communication skills by reducing stress, which is unfortunately a phenomenon of our society these days. Yes, even children suffer under the sometimes overwhelming and unexpected demands of life and societal pressure from an early age!
The offered workshops and sessions enable children to tap into their own innate resources and motivate them to become emotionally strong individuals.
Only if we start to nurture our children outside their family units in a safe & caring environment and help them to establish a deep sense of belonging and being loved we are able to create a better future for them, teach them about healthy relationships and give them strong foundations of mental, emotional and physical well-being that will last a lifetime.
